Arsenal's Frida Maanum shootsFrida Maanum has scored seven goals in her last 13 games in all competitions as Arsenal finished first in their Champions League group

Frida Maanum’s hat-trick helped Arsenal win Group C of the Women’s Champions League against bottom side Zürich.

Maanum struck twice from long-range as the Gunners showed their attacking prowess despite the absence of injured duo Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead.

Arsenal are seeded in the quarter-final draw and play the second leg at home after winning the group in style.

Stina Blackstenius also scored twice to end their seven-game goalless streak.

Needing a win to secure first place after losing at home to Lyon, Arsenal immediately attacked the hosts and were rewarded with Maanum’s elegant free-kick lead from the edge of the box.

Caitlin Foord then swept in the cross from Blackstenius before providing Maanum to cut in a second.

The Norway international set up Blackstenius to score from close range before the break while Arsenal prided themselves on their dominant display.

Maanum threw in her third long-range shot six minutes into the second half, followed by a superb curl from Blackstenius three minutes later.

Fabienne Humm pulled back with a penalty for Zürich after a mistake by Leah Williamson, only Foord used a misguided back pass to the seven.

Kim Little converted from the penalty spot and Mana Iwabuchi came on clinically with seven minutes remaining.

Second-placed Lyon’s goalless draw at home to Juventus meant Jonas Eidevall’s side took the lead by two points.

The Women’s Super League contenders will discover their opponents in the last eight when the draw takes place on February 10th.
