It was known well before the close that the Nuggets Bones Hyland would trade. One of the potential candidates for the 22-year-old point guard was the Timberwolves.
According to Darren Wolfson, Minnesota thought they struck a deal for Hyland, but the player was eventually traded to the Clippers.
The reason Denver decided not to make a deal with the Timberwolves is allegedly because the Nuggets didn’t want to help their former manager Tim Connelly, who went to Minnesota last summer.
About HoopsHype:
Darren Wolfson on the Wolves: Bones Hyland was the second trade target they almost made (…) They thought they made a deal, they did what the Clippers did. In fact, they would have done more, but you heard me mention that…there was a thought that the Denver ownership group wasn’t willing to help Tim Connelly here in Minnesota.
