The 2022-23 season didn’t start the way the Chicago Bulls intended. This time last year the Bulls were 19-10 and the same can’t be said for their 11-18 record this season. Chicago is 3-7 in the last ten games and is also on a four-game losing streak. Adding to the losses the Bulls have suffered, news and rumors are now swirling that their two biggest stars are grappling with a split on the pitch.

Chicago finished sixth in the Eastern Conference last season, losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulls wanted to build on their success from last year and bring it into the 2022/23 season, but that didn’t happen. Two of their biggest stars are trying to settle some ongoing questions about whether they can play together for the rest of this season and beyond. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are the all-stars who seem to be at a crossroads.

NBA betting sites have the Bulls at (+20000) to win the finals this season.

What does the future hold for the two Chicago All-Stars?

Anonymous league sources have said the Bulls have helped out at a number of team meetings this season to try and resolve their problems on the pitch. This even included a face-to-face meeting between Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. The two respect each other, and just last season the stars declared themselves the best duo in the NBA. The meetings have not led to any outcome in court and everyone involved is beginning to get frustrated. LaVine had this to say on the subject.

“I think everyone goes through ups and downs, just like every team.”… “Obviously not everyone will be happy if we don’t win games. It won’t look as good as it did before. It’s all glitter and show when you win games. But when you’re losing games and trying to do the same things, there’s an uproar. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. For me I keep my head down. I’m working on my game and trying to help my team. I help lead the team. There I stand. I just try to take it day by day and evaluate how we’re doing.” – Zach LaVine

Diving further, multiple league sources have also said that LaVine and the Bulls “disagree.” There was a sense of strong disconnect throughout the franchise regarding his situation with the team. Keep in mind that this is all happening in the first season of his five-year, $215 million contract, which was signed this summer. As in any sport, a win heals everything, and if Chicago can reverse their season, this will all be a thing of the past.
