Sure, the holiday season can be a little stressful, but the best way to break out that weird family energy is to play a fun table game! Don’t make the same mistake I made when I introduced Dungeons & Dragons to my parents by allowing them to flirt with each other during the game. It was deeply uncomfortable and I absolutely do not recommend it. Happy Holidays!

The Lord of the Rings – Lost Odyssey: The Red Scribe

Game Master Kate Welch is leading a new one-shot charity campaign set in Middle-earth. According to a press release, Lost Odyssey and eBay are launching a program leading up to the event, “where both fans and businesses can buy and sell products that benefit Extra Life, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program that has raised over $100 Millions to fund essential life-saving treatments and healthcare services, as well as innovative research, vital pediatric medical devices and services for children’s lives across the country.

Players include Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil), Reggie Watts (The Late Late Show with James Corden), TJ Storm (Godzilla, Deadpool), Luke Gygax (GaryCon, GaxxWorx), and the Dark Lord Sauron himself, Sala Baker (The Lord of the Rings trilogy). The game will be played with the currently unreleased 5e Free League supplement for The Lord of the Rings and not with the game written specifically for the role-playing game set in Middle-earth itself, The Lord of the Rings: The One Ring.

The Sticker Game: An audio drama experience for solo journaling

“The Sticker Game is a single-player, part journal, part audio drama experience that combines sci-fi, fantasy, and whatever sticker genre the player brings to the table. Stickers are the key to influencing other realities. Team up with the agency on their “universal research project” to gain access to the included energy stickers. Participants must be brave, creative and willing to make difficult decisions. Using audio tracks and proprietary technology, your guide will help you decipher the strange biochemical properties of the stickers contained to manipulate the radon field of electromatter between universes. This is a delicate technology. What could possibly go wrong?”

“Old Gods and Young Guns is a system-independent settings guide. It describes a space fantasy western setting inspired by Jack Kirby’s New Gods comics. The guide provides details about the world of Outward Space and the history of the dead gods who left great power. The guides include information about what life is like in this environment, possible character archetypes, and a specific look at a location with named locations and characters to unhook plots from, but it doesn’t contain game mechanics.
