Snapchat is Introducing three new features for its paid subscription service Snapchat+, which costs $3.99 per month. Subscribers can now customize the look and feel of the app by customizing the camera capture button, app icons, and more. Users can change the camera capture button to a specific color or shape, e.g. B. a heart or a soccer ball.
Subscribers can now also add a custom background to their chats with the new Chat Backgrounds feature. Chat backgrounds were arguably first popularized by Metas WhatsApp, which has had this feature for quite some time. Snapchat+ subscribers can now change their chat wallpapers to default wallpapers available in the app or an image from their camera roll.

Finally, subscribers can now send a Snapchat+ subscription to a friend for the holidays with a new “Gift” feature. The rollout of this feature comes as no surprise as Snapchat said back in October that this feature would roll out this month. With Gifting, you can send a friend a 12-month Snapchat+ subscription for $39.99.
The social network’s previous Snapchat+ feature drop in October gave users the option to expire their Snapchat stories at different intervals instead of 24 hours. With the update, Snapchat+ subscribers were given the option to set snaps in their story to expire in either 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 2 days, 3 days, or 1 week. It also gave subscribers the ability to use different custom notification sounds when a friend snags them.
Snapchat launched its paid subscription back in June with exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features. Snapchat+ unlocks the ability to see who’s re-viewed your story, along with a special badge and the ability to pin a friend as your #1 friend. The subscription also includes the ability to “see the general direction of travel where friends have recently moved”. It was estimated that Snapchat+ had helped the app generate over $5 million in revenue in the first month since its launch.
