The Detroit Pistons have signed general manager Troy Weaver to a contract extension, The Athletic’s Shams Charania was first revealed.
Weaver has been with the franchise for the past two years, overseeing said role and leading the franchise’s ongoing rebuilding project.
Despite the Pistons’ worst record at 8-26, Weaver was credited with building a solid young foundation for the Pistons by winning over Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren, among others. He also surrounded that young core with trusted veterans of Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.
The extension can only give Weaver a longer tenure of power to continue preparing Detroit for a bright future.
