Northampton came back from a goal to beat Carlisle 2-1 and cemented their place in the second division automatic promotion places at Sixfields.
All three goals came within six minutes of the second half when Jack Armer gave the visitors the lead before the Cobblers immediately struck back through Sam Sherring and Louis Appere.
They have now reduced the gap to second-placed Stevenage to just two points.
Neither side had played a game for two and a half weeks and that lack of poignancy was able to contribute to a largely dreary and uneventful first half.
Carlisle’s only chance was drawn wide early on by Ryan Edmondson, while the home side’s best chance before half-time fell to Sam Hoskins, but he was thwarted by Tomas Holy.
However, the game exploded with three quick goals just after the break.
Armer initially put Carlisle ahead after 50 minutes from a goalmouth scramble but Northampton’s response was as impressive as it was immediate.
Sherring equalized from a corner just three minutes later and within moments Appere found the bottom corner to complete the turn and that proved a winner.
