The US basketball organization has finally announced the 12-man roster that will compete in qualifiers for the men’s FIBA World Championship later this year. The competition consists of just two games on South American territory, which will be the final qualifying window to enter the sport’s biggest phase.
The United States’ first game is next Thursday, February 23 at 7:10 p.m. ET against Uruguay in the nation’s capital, Montevideo, before playing Brazil three days later on Sunday, February in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul line up 26th also at 7:10pm ET.
The 12 players chosen for this challenge are typically not the NBA’s biggest stars, as the “dirty work” in qualifying is usually done by young players who promise, or veteran players who aren’t in the biggest franchises play the league.
In this case, some of them have work experience in the NBA, although most compete in the G-League, as some actually play in international competitions.

Galloway, Davis II, Sword and Pemberton are the athletes returning to the roster from the qualifying team for the November 2022 USA Men’s Basketball World Championship. This group of players won their first game against Colombia only to lose to Brazil afterwards. This means that the US team will seek revenge in next Sunday’s duel against the Brazilians.
Abdul Gaddy is one of the most experienced players in the selected roster, having been a member of the 2010 United States U18 national team that won all five straight games to capture the FIBA U18 Americas Championship gold medal. Reggie Perry, on the other hand, also won a gold medal at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship.
As for Treveon Graham, not long ago he appeared on the 2020-21 AmeriCup qualifier team, which triumphed twice in Windows 3, and on the 2013 World University Games team. The rookies for the USA basketball team are Hannahs, Huff, Moon and Hinton.
The US coaching staff is led by Jim Boylen, who fills the same role on his sixth straight tour for the USA Basketball World Cup qualifiers. So, the U.S. national team is entering the final timeslot leading Group F of the FIBA Americas Qualifiers. The way it works is that a total of seven teams will advance from the Americas to the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Championship, which will be held in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines from August 25 to September 10.
