Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is “good to go” and will be called up against Aberdeen on Saturday after recovering from a shoulder injury.

The Japan international had to be substituted with a shoulder injury in the first half of last Saturday’s convincing 5-1 Cup win over St Mirren at Celtic Park.

Celtic meet Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park next Sunday and ahead of Aberdeen’s visit to the Scottish Premier League on Saturday, Ange Postecoglou confirmed the league’s top scorer has made a full recovery.

“Kyogo is fine. He trained today, had a training session yesterday and is ready to go,” said the manager.

“I think I said after the game I was pretty relaxed.

“He had a similar game last year and I think he missed a session and played the next game.

“So it wasn’t something that we were overly concerned about and from our perspective, if it wasn’t right, it wasn’t right, we’re going to go ahead and deal with that.

“He missed a session to get treatment and has been training for the last two days so no problems.

“The only one from last week is David Turnbull took a hit and will be out tomorrow, that’s it, everyone else is fine.”

Postecoglou stressed his full focus is on Aberdeen and expects a tough game against the Dons, who have Barry Robson as interim manager after Jim Goodwin was sacked last month.

Since Goodwin left after a 6-0 defeat by Hibernian at Easter Road, the Dons have lost 3-1 at home to St Mirren and beat Motherwell 3-1 in Pittodrie.

Postecoglou, whose side have lost just one league game this season and lead Rangers by nine points at the top of the table, said: “It’s always a challenge when you face a team with a new manager.

“Barry had a few games, in the first game a man got sent off very early and in the last game they had a good result and a good performance.

“They had a weekend off which means he had a chance to work with the team so we have to be prepared for that.

“We know they are a good team when they are at their best. They have some good individual players who can hurt you, especially in attack, so we have to be prepared for that, but at the same time our form was pretty good.” for quite some time and especially at home.

“If we start the game well and keep our pace, we know we’re going to be hard to stop.”

Michael Beale admits the chances of Rangers winning the league this season are slim due to Celtic’s ‘outstanding’ form.

Despite winning 12 and drawing one of his 13 games as Gers boss, Michael Beale admitted the likelihood of regaining the title from Parkhead was “slim”.

However, Postecoglou stayed away from Beale’s prediction, saying: ‘I haven’t heard the comments. I’m not really interested in that.”
