Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who is also Team USA’s head coach, jokingly said before the game against the Nets that he will try to convince Kevin Durant to run for the national team during the Paris 2024 Olympics.

After the game, which Brooklyn won convincingly, Durant was asked if he wanted to play for the national team. Though the 34-year-old superstar didn’t provide a straight answer, he didn’t shut the door on such a possibility.

“I’m definitely not going to do that [the decision] now,” he said. “I love my Team USA family. I always want to represent my country, my city, my block, my friends, my family. They give me the opportunity to stand in front of the whole world on this platform and show what my people have taught me since I was a child.

“Well, I’ll definitely have to think about it, but I’d say it’s too early now. They respect my schedule and where we are in the season and they are all always in constant communication about what we want to do in the future. I’ll have that conversation when it’s time, but right now I don’t know.”

Durant has won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA – in 2012, 2016 and 2020. He also has World Championship gold from 2010.
