John Luther takes up the case again.
Netflix released the first images from the Luther follow-up film on December 21, providing a glimpse of what’s next for Idris Elba’s crime-obsessed former detective. In the new photos of Luther: The Fallen Sun, due out in March 2023, Luther is taken to several dangerous locations, including an icy tundra and the tunnels of the London Underground.
The streamer described the new film as “an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga” as it follows the events of the fifth Luther series with the title character behind bars and a deadly serial killer terrorizing London.
“Haunted by his failure to catch the cyber-psychopath who is now taunting him,” the film’s Netflix description continues, “Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary.” .”
Joining Elba in Luther: The Fallen Sun are Cynthia Erivo, Andy Serkis and Dermot Crowley, who reprises his role as Detective Superintendent Martin Schenk.
